Canyon de Chelly, how much time
Trying to plan our trip to 4 corners area and I am wondering if it is possible to see both the Petrified Forest and Canyon de Chelly the same day. How much time at both places do we need?

It all depends on how much you want to see of each park. It's a couple of hour drive between the two parks.
You can drive the rim of Canyon de Chelly and stop at the over looks on the south side and see much of the park. If you want to do the one hike into the canyon it will take a couple of hours or if you want to take a tour of the canyon then it will take at least 1/2 a day.
The Petrified Forest drive is scenic and there are a few little hikes to see the petrified wood and there are longer ones too if you find you have the time.
They both can be done in one day.

I agree with precedent respons : one day
minimum in each park, not more in petrified forest.
Canyon de chelley if you are good hikers could need more than one day.
The two in the same day seems irrealistic, without skiping some intersting parts of them.
On the road between, there is also
Hubbe trading post and Window rock to see...
So take your time to be sure to gain atmosphere of the 2...

Thanks, we wont be doing any hiking, just whatever we can see in a drive stopping at overlooks. There is so much we want to see and not enough time to do it all. We want to go to Monument Vlly and up into Utah, maybe to the Moab area. Then over to Colorado to the Million Dollar Hwy. We will only have 5 full days after driving 2 days to get there. What are some "must see" places in that area?

You don't have a lot of time do ya!
You can see a lot of Monument Valley from the highway, but taking a tour get's you up close and personal with the buttes & mesas.
In the Moab area is Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park (Island in the Sky District) and Dead Horse State Park. All worth some time. You will only get a glimps of each if you try to do them all in one day.
In SW Colorado is Mesa Verde National Park but you really won't have much time for this park.
Just so you have an idea of how much there is to do in this area we plan at least a week in the Moab area when we go.
