Can UK users access cheap US fare deals?
Recently returned from a month in the US and would like to plan a return trip next year. Someone in the US told me about great fare deals with priceline.com and previewtravel.com and that these were international deals as well as within the US. I've tried both of these sites and it seems that they don't recognise departure cities outside of the US. I tried typing in London as my departure airport but they then require a State and they won't accept ENGLAND or UNITED KINGDOM. I can't get any further. Are these sites for within the US only? Or, anyone know of another company I might try? Any help appreciated.

I am certainly no expert on this question, but I have been told by my travel agent that some of the deals are available only for flights that originate in a US city. You might ask a real, live travel agent in the USA via the telephone. (Some of the international rates from the USA to the UK are now as low as 10 cents a minute.)
I can give you the phone numbers for some in Atlanta if you care to ask me directly. The address above is real.

Thanks Bob. Yes I would certainly appreciate those numbers and would e-mail you direct but I don't see your e-mail address. This has puzzled me on several occasions when I have looked at messages from folks on this board because when they say 'feel free to e-mail me direct' there is no e-mail address that I can see. Can you see mine? In fact, I thought this was intentional that Fodors do not display e-mail addresses to minimise the risk of abuse? It may sound a bit strange, but can users in the US see on this site what I in the UK cannot? Anyway, thank you for the offer.

I don't know if this helps, Joan, but I booked two KLMuk (formerly Air UK) flights via their web site last summer. The situation was reversed...only "United Kingdom" was an address option, and I live in the U.S. I booked the ticket anyway, complete with a "New Orleans, United Kingdom" address. Once I got my ticketless confirmation number, I was set. I did call the local KLM/Northwest number in the States to confirm my reservation, which they did. Never had a problem when we actually flew, either...SO, I'd just ignore the "US" thing and book it. The only potential problem is if the airline actually matches your billing address, but I'm not sure they do this with all online transactions.
