Well, I read the entire post. Still hard to believe that one. I do wonder what the logic is. Do all companies provide this? I wonder if they get some sortof kickback from the government as a way of attracting tourist. It just doesn't make sense.

Absolutely.

I hope you can find a copy of Fodor's California 2011 in Austria or on line. It is an excellent resource. Frommer's also offers reliable travel guiance: http://www.frommers.com/destinations/california/

I'm leaving in less than two weeks for Arizona and New Mexico. The Southwestern states offer a sharp contrast to Austria, and no state is more blessed with scenic variety and beauty than California.
