California, pet friendly hotels

My friends are planning a honeymoon trip from the Bay Area along the Northern California coast to the Oregon Coast. They would like to stay in a nice hotel or B&B along the way. They are bringing with them their two dogs and are looking for pet-friendly places. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I could help you in Carmel (huge dog loving population!), but not further. My friend, however, takes her dogs everywhere and says there's a whole California guide book on pet friendly hotels and b&bs. Don't know the name of it, but I'm sure it's easy to find.

Check out Sheep Dung Ranch near Philo. They'll be just minutes away from some great wineries in the Anderson Valley.

Since this is a Fodors site, I feel compelled to mention that Fodors has a book called "Where to Stay with Your Pets" (June 2001, Random House), you can buy it on line here. The blurb says " In every state and in 2,169 cities and towns, Fodor's shows you hundreds of places to stay overnight with your pet. In this comprehensive guide, you'll find 5,219 motels, hotels, B&Bs, lodges, and resorts, in all price ranges."

P.S., the book would make a nice wedding gift. . . .only costs $18.
