Cajun seeking snow fun near NYC
We will be in NYC for 11 days in February. Our first Trip! Thanks for the great advice in these posts! What my south Louisiana children would like most of all though -- is a chance to play in the snow. Any ideas on day trip or overnight location near NYC that would facilitate some snowball throwing, sledding and hot cocoa by the fire?

Clarification -- Our first trip to NYC. Also any ideas for child friendly restaurants? (7 & 2 yrs old). And finally - still trying to choose hotel -Sheraton? Michaelangelo? We need $175 - $250 price range - near subway (for husband to get to business conference) while Mom & Kids play.

Hi Donna,
Check some of the other postings for advice on hotels. As for snow fun, you could try a day trip up to the Catskills. Hunter and Windham Mts are there for skiing, etc, and there's usually a fair bit of snow in Feb. There are also lots of little hotels in cute small towns that have the roaring fire and hot cocoa bit up there, too.
For restuarants, I hear Ruby Foo just opened uptown and is very child-friendly.
Have fun!
