Cable Cars - How early do they start?

I think I remember from previous trips to SF (10 years ago) that the cable cars don't start running each day until 8:30 a.m. We are staying at the Westin St. Francis and I'd like to get on the cable cars first thing in the morning to go over to FW and the Alacatraz ferry. I also remember that lines can get long so thought a ride first thing made sense.

Anyone know the schedule?

Thanks!

Google is a good thing.

You probably remember BART, starts running on Sunday from 8 am, so some trains may start at 8.30.

Thanks. Looks like it starts going early on weekdays so our East Coast time bodies could even get on REAL early just for fun!

I had googled some information earlier in the year that made it look like it ran all night and I knew better. This was helpful. Thanks!
