*C & O* Railroad Historic Site?

I try to do all my trip planning
from searching the internet,
especially here, but am coming up
empty this time.
we were driving through
the night in the mid Atlantic
area recently, and thought we saw
a sign for
*C & O Railroad* Site.
Or at least we think we did.
Any idea where it was, or what
is there?
Thanks.

Hi wanderluster, out of curiosity I Googled this (I love trains) and clicked on the website for the C&O Historically Society. Looks like you can contact them for information. Hope this helps.

I've seen signs on I70 in Hancock MD for the C & O Canal. Don't know if the railroad came through there also.

It would be helpful if you could remember what ROUTE you were on and in which state.

Possibly Maryland? Possibly I-70? or are we talking I-95?

Thanks for the replys.
Intrepid, yes, we were on
both, and also a couple to
bipass the cities.
As I said, we were hurrying
to an out of town weekend
wedding, driving straight
through and somewhat bleary eyed.
LoveItaly, I will check that out.
Thanks again,
and any other ideas appreciated.
