BWI to DC

Arriving BWI airport in early morning. Best way to get to Omni Shoreham hotel in DC? Train plus Uber or Greenbelt Express bus ply Uber? Or just Uber or taxi all the way?

I'd take the MARC train from BWI to Union Station, then DC's Metro (you can get on the red line without leaving Union Station) to the Woodley Park red line stop, just steps to the Omni Shoreham -- less than 5 minutes. But check the MARC schedule for your arrival date / time!

What is your criteria for best? speed, ease, or price?

Car will be more expensive - always compare uber vs lyft pricing for the same ride. Price 7am today is $80 on uber.

And is this a Weekday or weekend?

weekday then a car/uber would hit rush hour traffic and could take 60-90 minutes to go the 30 ish miles. Trains would take you 90-120 minutes total - not faster.

if weekend then a car would be far faster.

I agree with kja, take MARC to Union Station and then Metro from there. I think MARC trains run pretty early from BWI (like 0515), but do check the schedule. You can also download the WMATA app (Metro) and preload your fare so you don't have to mess around getting a transit card. Do this a couple of days before departure, however, as it doesn't update your paid fare in real time.

Thanks to all who replied. Was so tired after the overnight transcontinental flight that I just took the 75 minute Uber direct to the hotel. Cost me $68 plus tip.

Lots of great restaurants in DC! And no need for a car – you’re on the red line! Parking will be far more problematic than taking the metro.Across the street from the Shoreham: New Heights, which also has a great happy hour.

Ordered by cuisine:
Greek / Turkish mezze: Jose Andres’s Zaytinya (Andres is the founder of World Central Kitchen)
Indian: Karma Modern
Israeli: Sababa
Italian: La Tomate or Tosca
Italian / Sicilian – Floriana or Iron Gate
Spanish tapas: Andres’s Jaleo
Vietnamese, upscale and modernized: Moon Rabbit

I can go on if you want other cuisines or very high end dining options.

I haven't had the short ribs at 1789, but I've never known them to do anything badly. I'm glad you were able to go there!

We usually take visiting friends and family to Old Ebbit Grill, D.C.'s oldest restaurant. Not high end, per se, but with outstanding oysters and pretty delicious everything else. Make reservations; you won't be treated like a tourist if you go.

A second vote for Rasika, as well. I agree to disagree with kja on Zatinya; my last two visits were mediocre food and rushed service.

Thanks to everyone. Took metro to Dulles. Easy and about an hour and a half and $2.50.
