Which one is better? Which has more room? Its a 3x3x3 seat arrangement on a Boeing 777.

This summer we flew to Nevis and had the first row in coach/bulkhead. The plane was overbooked so they bumped us to business class. Do you think they always bump up the first row first? Or was that just random.

What airline? Is it listed on seatguru.com?

US-based airlines bump people based on their elite status and fare class. Not where one's seated.

But some European/foreign airlines may still bump people based on looks/dress, etc.

Bulkhead seats on 777s are pretty darn nice. From ours we had about the equivelent of 5 empty rows in front of us. The only bad thing is we were next to the bathrooms, so there were always people standing in front of us (although not too close). Also, our "seat pockets" were on the wall next to us, and people kept picking up our books to browse while waiting for the bathroom!

Beware that bulkhead on newer planes has less room than regular coach seats.

I opt for emergency row.

Again, it depends on the airline.

But in general, the whole first rows of each section have the following disadvantages common for both the outside and inside section:

- Tray table and video screen (if equipped) come out of seatrest.
- The armrests are immovable.
- The seats are narrower.
- There's no underseat storage space, so your carryon must be stowed in overhead bins during take-off/landing.
- Babies.

Now, the "outside" section often have unlimited legroom, but on some planes in some configuration, the window seat may not have unlimited legroom because of a protrusion from the door.

The "inside" section may or may not have extra legroom at all, and you may be staring at a wall for many hours. And again, babies.
