Budget accom in LA in Sept - help please!

Hi,
I am currently trying to find accomodation in LA for 2 people for 5 days in late September - can anybody recommend somewhere that is reasonably nice and more importantly in a safe location?
All help would be gratefully appreciated,
Cheers

If you give me a price range I will try to give you a few options.

I might be able to give you some recommendations also if you can tell me what things you plan to see and do in L.A. - It is a very large city and area and will help if you can stay closer to where you want to be.

A price range helps. All the major chains ( Best Western, Holiday Inn, Motel 6) are in and around LA. Tell us your price range and what you plan to see and there is a spot for you. For example, if you plan to visit Universal Studios, try Beverly Garland's Holiday Inn, good location, easy access to Hollywood and Universal and all major freeways. I THINK it's a little over $125 a night, but I could be wrong.

Caoimhe, Also recommend Sportsmans Lodge in Studio City for easy access to Universal, Hollywood, Burbank, even Beverly Hills (via Coldwater Canyon Drive). It's a bit "retro" but has a nice pool, good coffee shop for breakfast and parking. Perfectly safe location in the "valley" but not too distant. Imagine it's about $125/night. There are lots of motel type places in Pasadena as well--you need to study a map of LA and plan where you want to go. Then get back to us.

We stayed at Embassey Suites in El Segundo, referred to as LAX south in June, paid $109. a night on Fri-Sun (AAA rate) and had a suite, 2 queen beds in bedroom and sleeper couch in living room. We also had full cooked to order breakfast and evening happy hour with drinks and snacks (popcorn, salsa and chips) included in rate. They have an indoor pool, whirlpool and exercise room. Rooms also have small frig, not mini-bar, coffe maker, microwave and utensils and plates.
The decor is very nice and interior has fountains, plants and pools with fish and ducks. Restaurant on premises good and reasonable.
Otherwise try
