Broadway Ticket Discount

I will be in New York City next week and wonder if I need to order tickets online of if I should wait and go to one of the discount places and get them.
Thanks !

Depends whether you are dead set on specific show or willing to take what is available. TKTS offers great discounts but you are restricted to what is available that day, which can vary. (BTW the TKTS office at South Street Seaport usually has shorter lines and you can buy matinée tickets a day ahead there.) There are no guarantees but you can see what was available the previous week on their website http://tinyurl.com/6mh8x5

It depends on whether you care which play or musical you see. Current and popular shows are not usually offered at TKTS, though there are a few exceptions. You should check the current discounts on line.

I am leaning toward seeing A Chorus Line. Do you think I should just order online from Ticketmaster ?
Thanks

When are you going? "A Chorus Line" closes August 17th...

Take a look at discount codes on www.playbill.com, www.theatermania.com, www.broadwaybox.com, www.hitshowclub.com

All depending, lines can be very long at TKTS (see their website for current availability), and you must pay with cash (or travelers checks).

I always watch the discount codes and purchase tickets ahead for better seat selection.

I got Chorus Line tix on theatermania for the same price that TKTS had them for. Makes sense to order ahead, since that show is nearing the end, and there might be a last minute rush to see it. It was packed the night I went, but I ordered tix only one or 2 nights before I went.

I alway use broadwaybox, mentioned above. If seats are offered on discount, they are the SAME seats others get without the discount.

Hi MaryPPP, When I was in NYC about 2 weeks ago, "The Chorus Line" was offered several days at the South Street Seaport TKTS booth. The line was not very long at that booth, and they do take Credit Card. (I think the TKTS booth Midtown takes only cash or travellers check.)
Please note that most of the shows are off on Sunday & Monday evenings though. I went there one Monday, and found that there were only about 5 or 6 shows offered. The guy told me, "theatre people need time off!!"

try broadwaybox.com. I have seen a lot on broadway and maybe its not what would usually be suggested, but Stomp was amazing. I have also heard great things about Wicked. Try Craigslist in NY as well, but be careful of scammers.

TIP: If you buy tickets online through Ticketmaster or Telecharge, you have the option to print them at home. BUT, Telecharge does not send the email with link/attachment for several days, usually, so you should select "Will Call". An email with link to your tickets usually is sent within hours by Ticketmaster.
