Don't know if it's still up, and Savion Glover has moved on, but my then-16 year-old bro and I LOVED Bring In Da Noise, Bring In Da Funk.

Ditto Bring in da Noise, Bring in Da Funk. I think The Lion King is good too. Not just for little kids, but great fun for a teen too.

Bring in Da Noise is closed. You may want to try The Blue Man Group, which is off Broadway in the Village. Also, Rent, which I hear you either love it or hate it. The Lion King, but it is next to impossible to get tickets. Cats is always a good one. Saturday Night Fever I believe might be in previews if not opened by the end of October. Smokey Joe's Cafe (a revue of the music of Leiber and Stoler) is something you all should enjoy. There's no need to get tickets in advance for this one, as they are easily obtained at the TKTS half-price booth in Times Square or at a discount on playbill.com.

Ay, I had no idea "Funk" was closed! Bummer. Haven't been to New York in awhile but I thought it was like "Rent" -- just goes on and on with a different cast (although nobody could quite fill Savion's shoes, could they?)

Deb: My votes for Stomp. After seeing Rent, 1/2 our group enjoyed it, 1/2 absolutely hated it.

It's true, there is no other Savion, but still...I say, Bring Back Da Funk!

Re: Stomp. I haven't seen it but I know a bunch of people who have and everyone said words to the effect of: "I have the WORST headache of my entire life!" I would be interested to hear from anyone who's seen both Stomp and Funk, because on paper they sound similar-lots of percussion-but I don't know anyone whose reaction to Funk was to break out the Excedrin.

Blue Man Group also a terrific suggestion; same brother loved it too a few years before (kicking myself for not thinking to recommend it).

Also, how about De La Guarda at the Daryl Roth theater in Union Square? The performers fly over the audience on wires, and will pick some members of the crowd to fly with them.

My 14 year old son really liked "Phantom" and didn't like "Miss Saigon".

How about Footloose? I know it's coming to Boston, so I assume it's already in NY......
