Just saw and odd ball theater piece inside the Post Office at 31st Street. It will be playing weekends until the 23rd.

Her age is widely misreported (and that itself is discussed in some press about her). I read an interview with her where that was discussed and she gave her birth year indicating she is now 88.

I've read articles that have both age 79 and age 88 listed in the same article, but having seen her, I don't think it's possible that she is 88. Acting on stage in a role like that night after night is so demanding that I was already amazed to think she could be 79.

This is a very interesting article..... if census info is correct it looks like she's 88 !!!!!

I love the comments about her not getting tired doing the show every night. But it appeared just wearing that blue dress made her tired simply walking up the stairs! Should I say she was wearing the dress -- or rather that dress was wearing her!

I thought the same about Estelle Parsons. At age 82 when I saw her in the touring co. of the play in D.C., she was running up and down those stairs in August Osage Co. all night long. And standing on her head doing yoga.

Last October I posted about a world premier of a new show I saw called Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike at the McCarter Theatre at Princeton before it headed to NYC. I raved about it at the time. Well, we know it recently won the Tony for best play.
OK, here I am again. This weekend I saw a world premier of Mothers and Sons by Terrence McNally and starring Tyne Daly at Bucks County Playhouse. Amazing. So I'm here to say -- look for it and don't miss it. There is no definite schedule yet for Broadway, but I have little doubt that will be happening soon. I'm making my prediction now, and I pray that the amazing Tyne Daly continues with it!

BTW, I recently saw the movie Kinky Boots on cable. I would not recommend watching it before seeing the Broadway show. But watch it afterwards...it is not a musical but there are a few good songs in it, and see what you think of the two main characters. I thought they were both very good.

Interesting, emd3, but why do you suggest NOT seeing it before the Broadway version? I've seen the film a couple of times, most recently just a week ago, and it made me want to see the musical even more.

Saw Matilda today and we absolutely loved it! Just a marvelous and creative set piece. The child performers (and not just the title character) were something to behold. We thought it was one of the best shows we've seen in quite a while.
At the time, I don't think it's for everyone's taste.
And, incidentally, there were a lot of kid groups from camps in the audience and they seemed to have enjoyed it very much.

Any opinions on Richard III?
Looking at my options for the third week in August -
Assembled Parties - no, unless they are extended
Kinky Boots - DEFINITE
The Nance - unless it is extended
Vanya... - DEFINITE
Trying to decide on two more "definites" -
contenders are:
Once
Matilda
Pippin
HowardR's last review is making me lean toward Matilda.
I think I'd enjoy Richard III.
Decisions...wonderful decisions

starrs - I would say Matilda is a good choice. Richard III starts previews in October. I would see it for Mark Rylance alone. He's been incredible in all that I've seen him in.
Saw off B'way production of Choir Boy. Very moving, good cast, good voices.

Thank you, cpg. I didn't notice the start date. He was a draw for me too. I saw him in Boeing Boeing a few years ago.
Choir Boy looks good, but it's closing Aug 4th. I wish there were a spreadsheet of dates and lead actors. It would make life so much easier for planning.
Okay, Matilda is a strong contender.
