Breckenridge dining suggestions
I've seen listings, reviews are harder to come by. What are your favorites? 6 adults, no kids (most nights). We'll be there a whole week, so we may be out many nights. I'm leaning towards fun and inexpensive, although we usually try to get one really nice dinner out. Any help is greatly appreciated! Regards, Amy

Amy,
I've been hoping someone else with more knowledge of Breckenridge would post here but since they haven't, I've got a couple of suggestions for nearby Frisco.
The Blue Spruce in Frisco is a wonderful, little romantic log cabin restaurant featuring game, lamb, fish...continental cuisine all the way. They also have a larger more casual bar/dining room attached in the back. Also in Frisco: The Claim Jumper (not part of the chain) offers great breakfasts (and lunch) in a casual atmosphere. Golden Annie's--pretty much invented fajitas (at least they are the best). Again a casual place with good quailty food and pretty good atmosphere.
Hope this helps,
Davidcs

David - Thanks for the suggestions. We will have a car, so it isn't out of the question. The trouble with big groups is that so many times, no one will make a decision about where to go, so I like to be as prepared as I can. We'll probably cook at home a few nights, too, which is always nice.

Hi Amy!
Golden Annies is no more, its now the Silverheels Ore House. Good but overpriced IMHO.
My favorite Resturant in Summit County for special occasions is the Ski Tip Lodge in Keystone. Reservations are a must!
Casual we like Breckenridge BBQ, Fattys Pizza. Theres is a Tapas Place I think Alpine something (?) that I have heard good things about but have not been there.
For real local flavor the Bule River Inn by Swan Mtn road. It is a "Locals" place a dive but fun and cheap.

Hi again. At Copper try the Indian Motorcycle Cafe. Its at the base. Sit down lunch with table service. The price is pretty much the same as the cafeteria but so much nicer!
A tip, I take a pair of disosable booties so I do not have to wear my ski boots. If you know someone at a hosital or airlines they are great to stick in your pocket.
Oh had a typo before its the Blue River Inn

Erics is fun, but can be crowded with an hour+ wait. Porrier's has good cajun. Mi Casa is good for mexican, but also can get crowded. South Ridge Seafood Grill is a local's fav. Sushi Breck is also good. There are some new places at the south end of main but I haven't been there yet. They look pretty nice. Stay away from Cafe Alpine, Briar Rose, Salt Creek, all of the Chinese places (except Szechuan Taste in Frisco), St. Bernard and any resort-run restaurants. All overpriced, underserviced and lousy food. In Dillon, the Dam Brewery is really good. Agree with Ski Tip, my favorite place. Keystone Ranch, too. Der Fondue Chessel at the top of Keystone is fun for groups, too.
If you really want to drive, check out the Saloon in Minturn, Campo di Fiori or Sweet Basil in Vail.
The best restaurant here is in my kitchen, in my not very humble at all opinion!!
Bon apetit!

Just Back, here's the report:
Best Mexican: Jalapeno's (I liked it much better than Fiesta Jalisco, burrito to burrito). Southridge Seafood - best meal overall by far, comparable to east coast prices, high quality, innovative cooking. Downstairs at Erics - fun, good pizza. Better pizza at Giampietro's. Rasta Pasta - fun, funky, tasty, reasonable. Swiss Haven -fondue, wouldn't do again -overpriced for what you get. Thanks to everyone for your help!

Amy...you didn't say how the snow was!! I "thought snow" for you, and hoped it worked. We skied Copper the 18th-24th. Beginning of the week was excellent but snow was needed (and they were getting it) by Sunday when we left. Still, it was better by far than anything I ever skied in New England!!
Ate at Fiesta Jalisco in Silverthorne area and really liked it. Great salsa! Saw the Indian Motorcycle Cafe...it looked interesting but didn't try it. The cafeteria food wasn't bad at Copper. Had the veggie wrap two days it was so good, and so huge I split it both times with the friend I was skiing with.
OK...so now give us the snow report too.

The snow was a bit lacking compared to previous trips out west for skiing. We did get a bit on Monday, and Tuesday was a great ski day, but the end of the week was very warm, and we were skiing in mush by noon. Get out early to avoid lines and slush... For future trips, I'll try to avoid spring break crowds and try to go to different resorts. Breck is getting too big for us, I fear. We loved Telluride two years ago, and hear great things about Utah skiing.

We did the Brewery for happy hour - had the nachos, which where loaded with stuff. Pretty good, but I like mine with less goop. The pale ale was very good. Forgot to mention, we stayed at the Wedgewood Lodge, on 4 o'clock road near the snowflake lift - the location was great, the staff was very helpful, and the condo (3 bdrm) was perfect for our group. We could have used a few more humidifiers (very dry there), but the place was fairly well stocked.

Amy,
Was there several years ago and ate at the Old Dillon Inn, which had good mexican food and the most wonderful Margarita's. Don't know if was just the altitude or what but they were not only delicious but quite potent. Don't know if it still there or not but I remember it was good.
