Boston Hotel Choice
Will be arriving Boston end of June from Bahrain. Myself, wife and son 14 years old will be staying for 10 nights. My daughter 16 and her girlfriend will be staying for 9 nights before starting their summer course at Harvard for 2 weeks ...etc.,
At present have two bookings: one with the Residence Inn Boston Harbor(2 different bookings one with two bedrooms, another with one bedroom) and with Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel (3rooms). The girls want fully separate area and myself want separate room or bed at minimum. Both these booking meets our requirements. Therefore, which one who knows the area would think a better hotel to stay. Actually the total cost at Residence will be more, though with breakfast and cooking facilities. I have looked at tripadvisor about Residence Inn but there is nothing yet about Renaissance as it is very new. However, I got the impression the Renaissance area is not good for a family but I am not sure. I have been in the past to Boston where have stayed at the Copley area. I do not know these two hotels area and thought for a change as long as the areas are nice for the family as well and very safe.....etc.,
Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

I presume these two hotels are in the Marriot chain? If so, the Residence Inn is across the Harbor in Charlestown--might not be your best choice as you would have to take a ferry over there or have a car. Having kitchen capabilities could be a plus for you, however.
The Renaissance Hotel is a new modern one for Marriot on Congress street, across from the waterfront area--quite nice! Breakfast may be a problem other than the hotel's cafe, which I believe may serve a breakfast--check on this.
Hope you enjoy Boston--it is a great city to walk in, has a nice art museum along with other types of museums, and plenty of tours. The "T" is your best way to get around the city and to go over to Cambridge/Harvard--a must on your list of things to do.
Enjoy!

I agree, the Residence Inn is nice, but it's in Charlestown so the location is not as convenient to the T . You can walk across the bridge to the North End, Faneuil Hall, etc. so it's not horrible but not super convenient either.

Many thanks for helping me to decide. Marriot Renaissance Boston Waterfront hotel is now the choice. Myself, wife and son with be staying for 10 nights, while my daughter and her friend will stay for 9 nights before moving to Harvard summer school for about two weeks.
We have decided for the three of us to go to Chicago after Boston. I have booked at the new SpringHill Suites Chicago Downtown/River North for eleven nights. This hotel will be opened in April/May as per their web info. Then we will go to Washington DC for 10 nights where we will meet my daughter and her friend for 8 nights. Then the girls will move with GLYC summer course for two weeks between DC and New York. For Washington i have booked at the Embassy Suites on 22 nd Street.
Then the three of us will go to New York for 12 nights staying at the Residence Inn New York Times Square. Have booked 2 rooms - Studio. On the last two nights my daughter and her friend will join us for the last 2 nights. Have booked with Lufthansa where the three of us will be return to Bahrain while my daughter and her friend will continue to Crans-Montana summer camp in Switzerland for 4 weeks. Some friend now suggesting to spend 3 nights in Las Vegas, but it is difficult now since air tickets in US AA are booked without changes. Will order some travel books from Amazon on Boston, Chicago and New York to keep us busy and entertained during our time in US.
If you feel there are some places and any type of entertainments (i do like good beer and wine) in any of the four Cities, please give your suggestions. Thanks in advance.
