Boston - Freedom Trail - Parking - How Much?
I will be passing through Boston in September and have only one day to sightsee. Thought I would do the Freedom Trail. I will have a rental car and was wondering if anyone could tell me if there are places to park near the start (also where is the start?) and how much should I expect to pay to park for the day? Thanks.

The best thing to do is to ditch the rental car and take the subway-called the "T" in Boston. September is when the 1 million Boston area college students return, and parking becomes non-existent. Boston averages about $30-40 per day to park in the center of the city. Boston is also very walkable and the weather in September is usually delightful, so if you want to really enjoy my beautiful hometown I suggest forgoing the endless traffic jams, exorbitant parking rates, and nutty drivers (Bostonians drive like the French or Italians-no road rules apply here) and walk, take a taxi, or use public trans.

We just returned from Boston today and the freedom trail is quite long. They say it is 2 and half miles but I think it is longer. You can get a map at any train station. A tip for you is the Bunker Hill monument on top of Breeds Hill (looks like the Wash monument)it takes 293 steps to climb it and once you get to the top it is hot, cramped and a tiny window to look thru. Stay on the ground.....
