Boston Duck Tours
Good Afternoon: Wanted your opinion on time to take the tour. I understand they have some early and some in the afternoon, would appreciate your input. Also on their website I found two different locations (Museum of Science or Prudential Center) I still don’t know where I am staying but would like to know if one area is better as far as more people or easier to get too. Thank you for your help. I will arrive on June 11, and have also read it is good to take it at the start of your vacation so you know what you want to see or skip. Gina

Going at the beginning of your vacation will give you a bit of an overview of the city.
I don't think it matters which location you start from, just what works for you. Both are close enough to T stops to make connections fairly easily. If either the Museum of Science or the Prudential Center are places you might want to include on your trip, you might consider spending part of the day there and let that dictate if you do morning or afternoon.
Have a great trip.

Generally, there are fewer people at the Museum of science tours. So if you are going to get a last minute ticket, you might have more luck there. The Pru might be easier to get to, if you are staying in a Back Bay hotel, where it is walking distance (which is why I believe it is more popular...far more hotels in easy walking distance).
If you are going to make a reservation a bit in advance, then it doesn't matter...pick whichever location is more convenient for you, based on where you are staying.

The Duck tour from MoS is an abbreviated one: 55 mins. The regular tour from the Pru is 80 minutes. http://www.bostonducktours.com/tour_sites_main.html
You can see the 2 different routes on this map: http://www.bostonducktours.com/media/TourRoute.pdf
I can't say for MoS, but if you're departing from the Pru, definitely purchase your ticket in advance. During the summer months, it's VERY popular...

OOOOPS! Sorry, but my info about is WRONG. I got confused with the NE Aquarium tour, which is the abbreviated one.
The MoS and the Pru tours are identical.
I'd pick the Pru departure simply because it's more convenient. Unless you are visiting the Museum of Science, there's not much else to see/do near there.
I don't know how the MoS place is set up, but at the Pru, if you arrive early, or if its a rainy day, you can wait INDOORS at the Pru until your tour is called.
Again, I'm sorry about the incorrect info above.

yk, I'm glad you corrected that. I went on the MOS duck tour a couple years ago, and I was sure it was the same. I was going to be bummed.
FYI, at the MOS we waited outside for our duck, but I don't know if they handle it differently on a rainy day.
