Boston Cabs/Limo Fares
My family of 6 are planning to take a New England Cruise in October. We depart from Boston. We arrive at Logan Airport and are to go to Black Falcon Pier-Port of Boston. According to maps and travel agencies it is only about a mile away. I have been trying to find out what the approximate fare would be either via Limousine or Taxi. Any ideas or contacts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Does the cruise line offer transportation from Logan? Something worth looking in to. Also look on www.mbta.com This is the home page for the subway/trolley/water taxi system. There are water taxis that shuttle you from Logan to Boston's waterfront, but the drop-off point might not be convenient to the Black Falcon Pier--something worth looking in to though! I can only guess on what a cab fare would be--probably 20ish, assuming the cabbie takes you through the Ted Williams Tunnel, and there is light traffic. Have fun!

It may look like a mile but between the airport and falcon pier is water and two tunnells to get into Boston, which you must do. Previous poster mentioned Ted Williams tunnell and that would be the right one to go through unless it is jammed up (which it usually is not) The TWT is used for commercial traffic only except weekends and holidays. Depending on the traffic, plan on $20. What day of week and time are you arriving. That can make a major difference. We are under construction all the time which includes the pier area and way to the pier area.

I'd say one of your problems will be having to transport six persons. I don't think you can do it all in one cab. Aside from that, the Black Falcon Pier is right near the enterence of the Ted Williams Tunnel, and I've taken a cab from Logan to that neighborhood for about $10 with tip. You can never depend on the traffic on the Logan side, but the TWT is never crowded, it's always open to taxis (not to private cars except on weekends, holidays, and when they want it to be open...)and should be no problem at all. You will not have to go into downtown Boston to reach the Pier at all. I would be more concerned with finding transport for all six, so a limo might be a better idea. Otherwise, you're looking at two cabs.
Now that I think about it, the cab fare could be higher. Betsy and Clay's guess at $20 might be a little high, but not too far off the mark with tip.
I've found a website that lists limo services for Mass. at:
http://www.limousineregistry.com/ma/...husetts_b.html
There are about ten listed in Boston, so you might want to call a few for prices.
Good luck, and have a great cruise.

I have noticed at least some vans in service as taxis at the airport, just see the attendant at the taxi stand & they should be able to help you get lined up with one (or they can assist with two cabs if necessary). I would also advise to have a map with you in the taxi & make sure the driver knows where he's going (be a bit more assertive on this point than usual). Unfortunately, Boston streets are very complicated & most of my most recent drivers haven't been in town for more than 3-9 months. Worst case, without a map, the driver will get directions from the dispatcher if he doesn't know the place. But you're likely to pay additional fare if the driver guesses wrong & takes a route that goes astray. Be sure to plan in enough time for this whole manuever as your plane will likely be late (I seem to be running late 90% of the time I arrive or depart from Logan), sometimes there can be long waits for a cab (but not always), & then a few extra minutes in case it takes a little while to find the place.

Bear in mind that you are going through the heart of the Big Dig, which is the largest public works project in US history. It has made the flow of traffic even more nightmarish and unpredictable than before. As for taxis, the limit is 4 people per cab. It will cost you about $15-20 per taxi, so you may be better off getting a limo that will charge you a flat rate. I live in Cambridge and fly out of Logan a lot for work. Most of the time taxi drivers do not know where they are going, so I think a limo is your best bet. Good luck!

Hi-which ship are you taking..we are going on the SeaBreeze on july 23rd from Boston. If you haven't made arrangements with the cruise company for transfer to and FROM the pier you should think about it..Getting from the airport to the pier is a complete mess..and your going to need a van or two taxi cabs..and the of course you will need a ride back to the airport..The other thing is you can probably ask a "starter" or a State Trooper..but just remember getting there is half of the problem..having somebody pick you up at the pier is going to be the main problem... and you have never, I repeat repeat never seen a mess in that area like we have now.. But we Bostonians are a glutton for punishment..
