Boston Accom.

Hi,

I'm planning a trip to Boston in September. There will be about 4 or 5 of us travelling, all male. Getting a hotel to take 5 people in 5 beds is proving difficult (and/or expensive). The best I can get is rooms with 2 double beds in each. Are there hotels that provide single beds and rooms to take 3 or 4 people this way ?

Any suggestions welcome.

To answer your question: In my experience, no. Why should this be a shock? Especially in a city like Boston where room size will be relatively tight (old hotels and/or simple real estate limitations and/or fire laws).

Suggestions? Pony up the money for a suite with two doubles and a fold-out, and a room with two doubles. And you're also looking in one of the most expensive cities in the US vis-à-vis lodging, so you'll really need luck.

How about a hostel?

Especially if you're younger guys - college or militare age. The HI facility on Heminway St has rooms of various sizes, maybe one where u all share room, but with the same bed types, instead of one guy getting stuck on the rollaway. In addition, hostels have larger "dorm-type" bathrooms where there's less waiting for a shower / sink / toilet as you guys would be doing in one or two hotel rooms.

Try http://www.bostonhostel.org/ or hiayh.org

If you are not set on staying at a hotel, try bnbboston.com for bed and breakfast accommodations. These usually have a wide range of bed situations. Also, the Newbury Guesthouse on Newbury St. is a B&B with a great location, not fancy but worth the price. These places are near the "T" (subway), conveniently located to restaurants, etc., and you get a breakfast! At least it will cost you less and give you more $$ for having fun in Boston!!
