Bath, Maine is chock full of antique shops right on the main street. There are wonderful coops in Brunswick and Rockland (not sure of the names, but pick up one of those "antique trail" maps which ought to be by the door in just about any antique shop)> If you venture norht towards Rockland, be sure to stop at Moody's Diner in Waldoboro for lunch or a snack - a real classic.

Barry- Found this when I did a SEARCH and entered Antiquing and then scroll down to Maine and hit GO--(on Fodors-at the top of the page):
Message: I suggest you get hold of a copy of the Green Guide to Antiquing in New England published by the Globe Pequot Press - you ought to be able to find this on Amazon. The book is a great info source, although entries are paid for by the shops so you need to keep your eyes open during your travels for "unadvertised" places. The stretch of Rte 1 between Oguquit and Kennebunkport is dotted with all sorts of little shops - many in the Wells area. There's a fabulous, large Antique Co-op in Brunswick and the Main Street in Bath offers a wonderful variety of smallish shops. There's an excellent Co-op in Rockport - check the Green Guide for exact location. We are avid collectors and have made some super finds over the years poking in and out of every shop we come to on Rte 1 - dont really pay attention to the names of the dealers - just make a point of never passing by one of those red white and blue "Antiques" flags!
We spent a couple of nights at the Newcastle Inn in the Fall of 2001. Very well-run place - pleasant hosts - well known for their fine cuisine. We were initially disappointed by its location on a fairly busy street, but found our room to be extremely quiet and the location a great base for exploring the Pemaquid area as well as antiquing adventures.

Barry-
It doesn't come up on FOdor's cause no one asked the question before--
I did a search on google.com and altavista.com- they are search engines-
Then I kept fooling around with it putting in Boothbay Harbor and Antiques in Maine until I found what you were looking for...
Since I am also INTO ANTIQUES, it was fun for me to do-- so I didn't mine spending the time on it....
Have a terrific time....
If you can get down to Searsport Maine,it is an awesome antique area--particularly if you collect Canton and Imari china from the 1800's--
Make sure you drive in an EXPOLORER or some other SUV so you can haul back your goodies!
And if you want a CHEAP lunch- go into any mcDONALDs- they sell LOBSTER ROLL sandwiches up there in MAINE!!!
