Book a 4 or 5 star hotel for $19.28

Hey fellow Fodor's fans:

Two weeks from today (Oct 1st), The Leading Hotels of the World will have one heck of a sale. For only 80 minutes, starting at 8am est, high end hotels all over the world will have a rate of $19.28. You can only book 2 nights at each hotel, and the best part is that weekends are included!

Some U.S. hotels include:

Enchantment Resort & Mii amo Spa (Sedona, Arizona)

Bernardus Lodge (Carmel Valley, California)

The Hay-Adams (Washington, DC)
Biltmore (Coral Gables, Florida)

The James Chicago (Chicago, Illinois)

Wheatleigh (Lenox, Massachusetts)

La Posada de Santa Fe Resort & Spa, A Rock Resort (Santa Fe, New Mexico)

The Alex Hotel (New York, New York)

Check out the site, register, and on October 1st be ready to book:

http://www.lhw.com/1928_SIGNUP.aspx?ext=1928

Good luck, and would love to hear back from people that got a hotel from the site that day.

The fine print says the dates for the stay have to be between Nov. 1 and Dec. 15. I was going to snag the Florida place for after New Year's, but I guess not.

And I also think you can only book one hotel per household.

I hope it works out for some people!

You wouldn't be advertising, would you ? That would not be legal....

kate the editor posted it the other day so I do not think it is advertisting? I did sign up for it but doubt I can take advantage of it. I beleive it was also on the Europe board.

I hope this doesn't open a floodgate for more of these kinds of postings.

I have complained to the editors.

This is a travel board!! A nice person let you know that a great hotel is having a great sale.

Why should this upset anyone and cause them to complain?

Complained about what? If you don't like a post, you certainly need not read it, but many of us enjoy when a fellow traveler alerts us to a bargain. Its certainly better to many of the posts that could be answered by a google search. I, for one, am thankful that Andy shared this link, but if you have so much money that you are not enticed by a $19.28 special, you can read the other posts.

This is NOT advertising. I saw it on the Europe board the other day posted by a Fodors editor.

It was written in a way that sounds like advertising, but the OP was just really excited. These are $400 hotel rooms going for $20. Hooray!

No luck yet. This has been the response I've gotten for the last hour:

Sorry! Due to the overwhelming number of consumers currently trying to access this promotion, your request is being delayed momentarily. Please be patient, don’t get discouraged, and retry in a few seconds by clicking here, or by going back to http://www.lhw.com/1928.

I got the same message, many times, and have given up. I know they did this, in part, to increase their email database, but the frustration with the promotion won't do anything to make me seek a LHW next time.

I tried from 8 am on and never had any luck. Just spent a lot of time trying to get in. I've got some doubts.

Up at the crack of dawn, never even got into the site, just the irritating message. What did they expect?! They should redo this on a lottery basis: sign up for the hotel you want, any days they have, then win or not.
