I can't get my mind off of all the victims.
I am cozy with my heat blazing and I know there are people clinging to life - cold.
So difficult to be so powerless.
Well, let us hope that we (the US) can shed our image of being one of the stingiest countries and really help.
I've been looking for some place to donate but havent found any place devoted to the disaster yet.

I understand that the death toll is now up to 21,000 and counting. I just can't fathom how awful and devastating this is. My heart goes out to all those affected.
I have close friends who do missionary work and teach English in Phuket, but luckily they are in the US for the holidays.

Just read about Nate Berkus, Oprah's celebrity designer, being on Sri Lanka. He survived but a companion was swept to see and is missing.
This disaster is just a terrible story for all of us. I can't imagine being on my tropical paradise vacation and having this 500mph (yes, 500!) wall of water coming at me.

My thoughts are prayers are with the millions affected by the earthquake and tsunami. If you'd like to help, you can donate at redcross.org and have your gift go to the International Response Fund.

I was pleased to hear that the US Govt would contribute "appropriate help." What the hell does that mean? What does George consider appropriate?
I also heard that we would start by contributing $15 million. Cool. Don't we spend more than $15 million in Iraq EVERY DAY???
Any input on where to send money, supplies, etc. would be welcome. This is almost beyond comprehension.

It definately tugs at the heart strings.
Intl Red Cross as already mentioned.
It's still nice to see that in light of this horrendous tragedy we can still bash the the US and it's government.
Good grief.

Thanks for the list Indie. The priest that married hubby and I is from Sri Lanka and he was on the local news tonight speaking of the devistation. Words can't express what a terrible tragedy this is.
