Black Hills Questions
Plan on seeing Wind cave and Jewel cave. Which cave is best for the wild cave tour? We will be there over July 4th and plan to see the fireworks at Rushmore on the 3rd. What strategy do I need to have on this. Do I need to get to the park early in order to have a great seat? what about after it is over with- how much of a nightmare exiting the park can I expect? Plan on spending a day in Badlands- any "must sees" there. We are very active and like to hike, kayak, etc. We are staying in Custer for 5 nights. Thanks for any input.

For the fireworks at Mt. Rushmore, the parking garage usually fills by mid-morning. People are there all day for the evening fireworks. Expect delays in leaving.
The Badlands & Custer State Park are both great for hiking.

The lakes in CSP are relatively small, though Sylvan is lovely. For kayaking in larger lakes, try Sheridan or Pactola.
The Black Hills is a beautiful area.

spirobulldog,
Thought I would let you know that yesterday the 2010 Mt. Rushmore fireworks were canceled.
