Birthday Celebration in New York City

Hi, Looking for recommendations on how to celebrate a birthday in New York with family/friends. Looking for quality and affordability. Any suggestions?

By "how to celebrate" do you mean just dinner and you want a restaurant? Or activities, bars, etc.? How many people and what ages? Any particular cuisines to go for or avoid with food? And is affordable $10 per person, $50, etc.?

Just a few questions to give more details to those who can help.

Good questions!
I would prefer a good and affordable restaurant. Something like Carmines would be great.

General ideas:
What about a chinese banquet?
A place that's BYOB would save lots (Zagat guide has a list)
check with folks on chowhound.com

Well, then, how about Carmines? Or Becco? You don't say how many people. Is it a "big" birthday? How about a private room with a prix fixe menu?

P.S. See both newyork.citysearch.com and zagat.com -- look under "Good for Groups". That should help.
