Biker's Trip Maui Trip Report 5/20 to 6/4 Long

Hello everyone. My wife and I recently returned from Maui. We were fortunate to have been able to stay a little over 2 weeks.
This board has always proven to be a valuable planning asset, especially the trip reports.
I have recently completed my own such report and hope that it provides some useful information to all of those planning a trip to Maui or who just want to re-live their own trip.

Please follow the following link. Pictures are linked within the report.

Thanks
Biker

A very well composed TR! Would have said 'nice' but that wasn't exactly it!

Sounds like you really enjoyed yourselves!

Enjoyed your pics...esp. the swap meet one...hadn't seen a pic of that until yours.

I enjoyed your report very much. Thank you for posting it. I LOVE Mulligan's! We went to "Wailea NIghts" there to listen to Barry Flanigan of HAPA and Eric Guilliom play. One of the highlights of our trip. It sounds like you guys did a great job of mixing touring and chilling... What do you recommend ordering at Sansei's?

crazy-we selected several of the items highlighted as award winners. Other items selected just looked good to us, they have a huge selection.
Don't think you can go wrong with anything though.

Great stuff !
Did you drive all the way 'round west Maui ? People fuss about Hana road, that's nothing but a twisty road. The road around west Maui had my wife covering her eyes in some places

pspercy-thanks, yes we did drive all the way around the west end. Beyond narrow. Definitely glad we took the clockwise route and could hug the inside!

Ha, inside same as outside a lot of the time

Curious about the R-C deal, we have Marriott T/S teaser invitation, says "hotel type accomodations" & I think all units at Marriott Kaanapali are timeshares now so maybe we'll end up there if we take it ! Our offer was 6 days/5 nights including car for $699 which is pretty good (Lower H. road condo price).

Marriott Corp actually owns the Ritz, so there is a good chance you will. I was told it was simply a matter of availability at the time we booked. I believe you are correct, they are all TS's, but the balance are under construction (until Nov I think).
They (the timeshares) are very nice, so if you get one i think you will be happy. $699 is an even better deal than we got.

Nice report, sounds like quite a trip. You can put me in the "I love Sushi" column. Not because it's trendy, just because it's delicious! I can't believe you went to Sansei twice and didn't try any. Nothing nasty about it, in fact I would eat it every day if I could afford to. In my heart I believe people who don't like sushi either: a. have never tried it, or b. have never had good sushi.

Thanks for the comments. Well I've no intention of buying a T/S but it's a good deal so don't mind listening to the pitch. The offer came via American Airlines Vacations (aavacations.com) and even includes 5K miles
We have until August 06 to use it so we're thinking whale season ....

Reading your trip report..very amusing! Thanks for posting the link & pics. We're only going to dine out a few times during our trip but after reading about all that food on your report I don't know how I'll narrow down our choices #-o

annahead: I agree with you! I love sushi and would absolutely eat it every day if I could afford it. We are going in September and Sansei is a must on my list of restaurants
biker: I like your report and photos, thanks so much (I especially enjoyed your review of the Molokini trip, becuase we are also going with Four Winds II).

Biker,
What a wonder, detailed report. If you did not state your age, I would have thought you are a lot younger by the way you write.

Kinch- thanks-used a Nikon Coolpix 5700
Hanalei-Thank you as well. Having 5 children probably has something to do with it (from 8 to 22).
BTW-I added 3 pics of La Perouse - the green pool just before Aquarium and a shot overlooking the Aquarium area. Not as clear-used the camcorder.

That is the exact camera we have and used, your pictures seem a lot clearer! Did you use a tripod?

No tripod, the image stabilization was on. The image size/resolution was pretty high as well.
