Bike Ride Suggestions from central Key West?

I won't be too far from Duval St., let's say halfway between the northern and southern end of the Key West Island. Does anybody have a suggestion of what might make a lovely bike ride for one day (3-4 hours), a pleasant view or bike path that might be the aim of a several hour pedal? This is one of my favourite things to do when travelling...

Key West is a TINY island - only 2 miles by 4 miles, so you don't really need an agenda. Just bike or wander around and you'll see lots of things (and people) to keep you entertained!

One other suggestion. Lloyd's Bike tour gets RAVE reviews. You might check it out at www.lloydstropicalbiketour.com

Thank you for the bike tour suggestion; so I guess there are no bike paths leading off the island that might be fun (perhaps to an adjacent island... I've never been so my conception of distances and the layout of Key West may be wrong).

Daniel - the only road out of Key West is the highway that leads up to Miami. It's busy and crowded and you'd have to be mighty brave to ride a bike on it.

In addition, the next island up is Stock Island and other than local color, there's isn't much of a view. On one side of the highway there are condos and mobile homes (and a couple of very good local restaurants), and on the other side is the Key West Golf Club, and more condos. I've only driven through those areas, but in my opinion they're less than scenic. I think you'd have more fun and adventure in Key West.

Thanks again SusanCS for giving me a better perspective on the immediate surroundings of the island! 1 month and 2 days to go before I'm there...can't wait!
