Big Sky, Montana - what to do?
We'll be in Big Sky, Montana, at the end of summer. We are an active, middle-aged couple who enjoys hiking. Any suggestions for good hikes or daytime activities? Any must-sees or must-dos? This is our first trip to Montana.

Fly fish! You get to stay cool in the river while learning to cast catch and release. Nature abounds and peace washes over. Also, many great hikes in the area. You can horseback ride, mountain bike, raft, golf, etc. There is so much to do and see.
Enjoy it!

If you want to drive a little north, the town of Livingston is very quaint and has lots of artst fartsy stuff. then you could go over to Boxeman and see the Museum of the Rockies...one of Montana's best things to see. and remember, just driving around the state is a treat in itself. paul

Absolutely fly fish! We used an outfitter called Gallatin River Guides. Steve and Betsy French are the owners.(or at least they were when we were there).
Also, had some great food at Cinnamon Lodge. Pick up candies made with huckleberries at various places.
We drove from Big Sky to the West Yellowstone entrance of the park most days and loved the drive and the scenery.
You are going to love Montana. Have fun.
