Bicycle Trip Fom Dallas To Dallas

(Dallas GA to Dallas TX, that is)

I am doing this ride to raise awareness of overcrowding in our animal shelters and to benefit the Humane Society.

Adventure Cycling's map of the southeast goes from Florida to Austin TX, so it doesn't meet my needs.

Any suggestions (avoiding interstates of course) or have any of you ever made a journey close to this route?

Thanks

Good for you! We are a household of many rescued pets so I admire you for what you are doing.

What kind of suggestions are you looking for? Lodging? Roads? Maybe post specific questions so we can help you.

Thanks, I was looking mainly for road information. Just wondering if anyone had here had made a trip by bike before, if not exactly the same, then similar.

No, I have not done anything even remotely like that, but I think the two things you need to consider first are:

1. How are you going to go around Birmingham, and

2. Where are you going to cross the Mississippi (Greenville or Vicksburg).

Decide on those, then just pick the rural routes that can link up motels overnight.
