BH or Camden or both

This will be our 1st trip without our toddler and we are going to Maine in July for 5 days. We enjoy the outdoors and hiking but are also looking forward to some nice restaurants and shopping. Will 5 days in Bar Harbor be too much? Should we spend a few days in Camden? B&B's on the list are: (1.BH: Canoe point, ullikana or the shorepath cottage and 2. Camden: the inn at sunrise point). Any thoughts or suggestions much appreciated. Thanks

BH/Acadia can certainly occupy you for 5 days. Kayak, bike, hike, whale watch,...the Ulikana is the only one on your list I am familiar with and it was very nice, no complaints, nice location easy walk to BH shops, etc.....Camden is nice but I wouldn't take more than 2 of your 5 days from BH.

I agree with the previous post. Camden is charming, but two days is plenty for it. Bar Harbor, with Acadia, would take several days to explore. The area is spectacular. Acadia is just beautiful. On my last trip up there, we divided our time equally, two nights in each area,
and ran out of time for what we'd hoped to see in Acadia.

Camden is charming and along the route to Bar Harbor. We stayed at the Belmont in Camden and if it is still around it is lovely. Try to get the attic room. The nice thing about the Belmont is it is off the main drag. I agree with the folks who have said two days is plenty there. I'd say 3-4 days in or around BH will allow you much time to see and be in the park. We did not stay at any of the places you listed. I'd also suggest you check out places in the harbors around BH. They are less populated and have some great charm.

Definitely see both...Camden is the Hamptons of Maine in my opinion. Very picturesque-several movies filmed there.
Bar Harbor offers something for everyone though. Definitely get out and explore the whole MDI area though. Very quaint.
enjoy!
