Best winter time beaches in Hawaii for families
We are planning a trip to hawaii for the 2nd week in November and are trying to find which island would be best to go to. We are a big group with lots of children looking for a vacation rental home and the most important thing to us is that we will be able to go swimming with kids in calm water! I am having a hard time figuring out which island and what beach areas will be best suited for us to hang out and go swiming withour small children any help would be appreciated!

In October the oceans begin to turn from calmer north to calmer south. You'd probably enjoy Poipu on Kauai, Honolulu area of Oahu, most everywhere on Maui. Big Island has fewer beaches in general because it's a 'newer rock' in the ocean!
Many large groups are happy renting individual condos in one complex over sharing a house. You'd have a wider choice of condos and a wider range of pricing.

Lydate on Kauai has a beach that very small children can use. Older children might find it not as exciting.
A few beaches on south side of Maui would probably be fine as well... they are near the hotels but have public access. We've stayed on Maui in November and never had trouble getting to our beaches.
I might suggest looking into Kihei in south Maui for condos. It's not as resort-ish and might have homes or adjacent condos.
