Best way to Calistoga

Which airport is best for a visit to Calistoga? I am flying over from LA. Also, how long does it take to get from the airport to Calisotga? Is there a shuttle or train?

Would fly into Oakland if you can. The only way I know to get to Calistoga is by car and it's not a bad drive from Oakland airport. You can check with www.napavalley.com. If driving during peak wine tasting times and if you want to speed things up a bit you can take Stagecoach Trail instead of Rt. 29 through the valley.

1-2 hours depending on time of day and what day of the week. You will also get a faster start from Oakland because the airport is much more manageable than SFO in terms of renting a car, getting suitcases etc.

Another altenative would be SMF, Sacramento "Interantional" Airport.
(International-I love it!).

It's a little over an hour down I-80 to Hwy 12/29/128 to Calistoga, except for Sunday afternoon when it could be 2hrs due to returning traffic from Reno/Tahoe.
No train/shuttle...Although I think "Super Shuttles" (the blue vans) run all over No Cal and they may be able to haul you there and back?
