Best Tiki Torch Lighting ceremony?

Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me where the best Tiki Torch Lighting ceremonies are held?

We're staying:
Hawaii - Kona by the Sea
Oahu - Waikiki on the Beach
Kauai - Kauai Coast Resort & Hyatt
Maui - Maui Ocean Club

Thanks!

Hmmm been to Hawaii 6 times and stayed at quite a few highly regarded places....never saw a Tiki Torch Lighting Ceremony. Should I feel "gypped"?

Hilton HV has one on their grounds, and there is one down near the Kapiolani park end of Waikiki. I'm not sure if they are every night or just on weekends. Hilton's one on Friday nights is very nice. They have music, hula and fireworks!

We'd like to go to the Kapiolani Park one (which includes "conch shell heralding", hawaiian music, and hula... but it's only on Sat. and Sun. eves and we'll be there only on a Wed. and Thurs. eves.

Aloha! I would hope that if you are going to be on Oahu, that you would go to the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Friday night. You need to get there about an hour earlier than the program starts to get a decent seat, but they do a very classic lighting ceremony, as well as the different dances and fireworks.

The Hyatt at Poipu Beach on Kauai does a nice one at sunset. Beautiful spot and nice place to enjoy a sunset mai tai and pupu's. Walking through the torchlit grounds there is being amazing too.

We stayed at the Maui Ocean Resort and walked down to watch the very nice torch lighting ceremony at the Sheraton. I recommend it to anyone staying at Kaanapali.

I like the one at the Sheraton Maui. It ends with the torch lighter diving into the ocean off of black rock.

Great way to end the day.

noticed you stayed at the Kauai coast resort. What did you think of it? You stayed at the Hyatt too, wasn't the hyatt way nicer? Did the kauai coast have a torch lighting?

The Radisson is just off the main highway in the north part of Lihue, just a little ways south of the Wailua River, and they have a ceremony around the pool every evening. They have quite a few young dancers, who near the end of the ceremony choose people from the audience to dance with them -- which is generally quite entertaining. This is also the free drink hour for guests staying at the hotel. In the past, they've had Luau's on Monday nights instead of the Torch Lighting ceremony.

Yes, we stayed at both the Kauai Coast Resort and the Hyatt... very different, but both great! If you like condos, Kauai Coast has nice sized, fully equipped, very nicely decorated condos for a very reasonable price. It is a quiet place without much action. And the Hyatt we loved for the great pools, beautiful hotel, keiki hula show, etc... We wanted different experiences and therefore stayed at a variety of places.

I'm pretty sure the Kauai Coast did not have a tiki torch lighting ceremony because it was so quiet. But the Hyatt did have a ceremony several nights per week (you'd have to check, but it's something like Tues, Fri, and Sat.).

Next time we go to Kauai, we want to stay on the North Shore in a condo. But that might be awhile... our kids don't seem to appreciate the beauty of Kauai... they prefer Maui or Oahu.
