Best Sunday brunch in Kansas City?

We are going to Kansas City over Memorial Day weekend and are looing for a good Sunday brunch. The catch is that it must open before 11am, as we are going to a 1pm Royals game.

We have tried and loved Japengo, but they open at 11am. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Japengo will be going out of business next month...I'd avoid it.
If you're in the Plaza area I'd try Grand Street. Very nice breakfast/brunch selections, nice atmosphere. It's just east of the Plaza.

How about Station Casino at their Feast Around the World buffet. Sunday brunch starts at 7:00 a.m. I don't care for gambling and I've never been to Station Casino to gamble, but have gone a few times to eat. So many different kinds of foods there is no way you can sample everything.

If it doesn't have to be brunch, but just breakfast, my favorite place in the whole Kansas City area is First Watch in Prairie Village, a suburb on the Kansas side. There are other locations, but I like this one (well for one, it's close to my home, but it is also the one in the nicest neighborhood and the most pleasant). I love their food. They only serve breakfast/lunch and I think are open at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday. I love their avocado/bacon/tomato skillet - fried potatoes with bacon, avocado and bacon over them and monterey jack cheese melted over it, plus two eggs on top and fresh fruit on the side. Yum! I had that yesterday, as a matter of fact!

The First Watch sounds good. Thanks for the suggestion.

John - What's going on with Japengo'? I loved the place. Have things changed? Thanks for the Grand St. suggestion. I have been planning to try it.

Thanks.

If First Watch sounds like something you might like, check out their menu at www.firstwatch.com. It also lists all the locations, but again I like the one in Prairie Village, Kansas.

Japengo will be converted into a Mexican place to be called Baja 600, under new owners I believe.

If you are going to the Royals game you might think about Remington's in the Adam's Mark Hotel. It's right across I-70 from the stadium.

Let me second the recommendation for Remington's. I have not eaten there for brunch myself but have a very picky friend who thinks its wonderful! And it would be very convenient for the "K". Have a good time!
