Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. I've eaten at the one in San Francisco and the one in Honolulu. They use some increadibly hot oven and the steak stays HOT throught the entire meal. The shrimp appetizer is also wonderful. If we weren't in a restaurant we would have pick up the plate and licked up the sauce!

Dickie Brennan's in New Orleans. Even better than the local Ruth's Chris, which happens to be the original!

Peter Lugar In New York. There are 2 of them, and I'm pretty sure they don't accept credit cards, but being I don't like red meat and my husband has hada me try it all from one end of the coast to the next, I would have to say they have it beat. Now if we're talking about spareibs, no where beats Milwaulkie........

The Pine Club in Dayton, Ohio. No charges and no reservations. An average night is an hour to two wait. I understand when Bush (the last one) was president he waited in the car for an hour and a half while the secret service men stood at the bar waiting for his turn to eat. The steaks are wonderful. Haven't had one in about 12 years, but I can still taste it.

Perry's Grille & Steakhouse in Houston, Texas. The original one is in the NASA area but they have been so successful they are expanding to other areas of Houston.

Peter Luger's in NY is great, so is The Palm which is my favorite and they also have great lobsters. There are several really great steakhouses in New York and everyone has their favorite, Peter Lugers, The Palm, Smith & Wollensky, etc. I recently ate a sirloin strip steak at Ruth's Chris in Garden City, NY and was very disappointed. The place was pretty, but the food was only so so. I won't go back there because I know I can get a much better steak for the price elsewhere - including my own back yard!

No. Cal's best kept little secret...Jack's in Redding, Ca.

I've had steaks in most of the major steak houses in the U.S. and I still have to take a day off and make the drive to Jack's at least once a year!

Sullivan's in Chicago was a pretty close second.

Smokey's in Madison Wisconsin. Decor is Gawd awful, waitresses yell "Hot ...comin' through. Steaks are unbelievable and the hashbrowns are heart stopping.

My vote for the best steaks are at the Mirage hotel/casino in Las Vegas. The name of the restaurant is called Kokomo's. Outstanding.
