? Best Steakhouse in Chicago/ Best Pizza

Hi!

We'll be in Chicago for the weekend (Sofitel Water Tower area) and I was hoping I could get some restaurant recommendations.

My husband loves steak (especially Sparks in NYC)and so he really wants to go to an amazing steakhouse in Chicago. What would you recommend?

I'd like to have Chicago's famous deep dish pizza. What's the best place for that?

Any casual/fun restaurant recommendations?

Thanks a lot!!!

Do a seach on this site b/c there have been tons of posts on this but my personal favorite for pizza is Lou Malnatis. I'm not much of a steak eater by my husband's favorite is Mortons.

There is argument within both categories. I like Morton's, Ruth Chris, the Palm/Swissotel, the Saloon, Gene & G., Eli's the Place for Steak, Tango Sur and there are LOTS of others.

Deep Dish and steak both have long threads on this US board also. And if you go to www.metromix.com those two categories will also have review lists and distances from your hotel.

Lou Malinati's, Giordono's are very good. I like Gino's East only in certain locations. All are a bit different. Uno's and its successors used to be good but they aren't best at all any more- they became chainlike and also changed receipe/ownership.

I just tried metromix, put in steak as search item: 500 venues came up with reviews and they have a ten best list as well. Try pizza also.

Gibson's on Rush is by far the best steakhouse in Chicago, IMHO!

I had one of the best steak dinners I've ever had at Gibsons Steakhouse on Rush St. I think it was their specialty sirloin cut. It was a few years ago and I still remember the meal.

I've also eaten at Chicago Chop House as well as Sparks in NYC ... Still love the steak meal at Gibson's the best. It was one of those meals that every bite was absolutely delicious.

Also, we liked the deep dish pizza at Pizzeria Uno's downtown (the original, NOT the chain) better than Giordano's (although Giordanos was good).
