Best restaurant in Vegas?

I know there are lots of good restaurants in Vegas, but does anyone have any favorites? Looking for somewhere for a birthday dinner.

Loved Thomas Keller's Bouchon in The Venetian. That's my favorite but it will depend upon you and what you like.

My favorite restaurant pretty much anywhere is Circo in the Bellagio. Wonderful service, delicious food and a beautiful view of the fountains at the Bellagio. I eat there every time I go to Las Vegas and have never been disappointed.

Wow this is broad. I am going to go out on a limb and say that Wynn will have some great restaurants. Try that out and report back.

Love love love Mon Ami Gabi at Paris. Great service, great atmosphere(nice bar, and they have an actual outside eating area thats very nice too!)and one of the best steaks I've ever had (and yes - I've been to Ruths, Mortons, El Gaucho, etc...). There are so many great restaurants in Vegas these days... I'm sure you'll have a great meal! Have fun!

For a major splurge, I say Le Cirque. Otherwise, Prime is very nice. But, yeah, I would definitely check into the restaurants at Wynn too.

I can suggest a good birthday drink. THE BEST margarittas we have ever had at Border Grill. YUM YUM YUM! Funny thing that I can't recal what the food was like, but I am still searching for a decent margaritta and have yet to find it again.

There is hope, June, convention...Las Vegas. Margaritta anyone?

I'll second Bouchon in the Venetian as a good choice. My brother and I showed up there without a reservation on a busy night and they made us feel welcome. When we announced (and probably exhibited) near-extreme drunkeness, they treated us like prize pigs at a fair, announcing from time to time when each dish would be forthcoming from the kitchen.

And the food was good. I was feeling uncomplicated, so I went for a traditional butter lettuce salad with a nice olive oil and vinegar dressing, and the roasted chicken. Both were yummy.

I only tell this story on myself because most restaurants would quite reasonably be more concerned about their OTHER patrons. But in our case they made us feel like VIPs instead.

As a result, I've been back several times since and think their food is very good, generally speaking.

A hidden gem---
Michaels at the Barbary coast hotel.
The best meal I have ever had in Vegas. No sign on the door. near the roulette table. Great atmosphere (Mafia style). Hard to get in though. Call that day for reservations and you may have to eat really early or late.

If you're looking for a wonderful, upscale steak - try Blackstone's in the Monte Carlo. Everything is a la carte, dinners with a side or two will cost about $50/pp, plus drinks. The steaks are tender, and juicy. Service is refined, but not overdone. I eat there everytime that I go to Vegas.

Bon apetite !!!!!

This is a hard question to answer without more specifics. Does price matter? Do you want romance or fun? I would recommend different places based on what you want out of the evening.

Some thoughts:

I had dinner at Nine in the Palms for my bachelorette party. It was perfect. It is an outstanding steakhouse without the dark/quiet steakhouse feel you get at Mortons. The food is amazing. Service is fun. Atmosphere is loud, modern, hip.

Jasmines at the Bellagio is a great Asian restaurant that overlooks the water show. You can't go wrong with anything at the Bellagio, but I personally enjoyed Jasmine's.

Based on one experience, I do not recommend the Eiffel Tower restaurant in the Paris.

Pinson is right about Michael's. It is a very old-style place in the heart of the strip. It is consistently rated highly by Zagat. The food is amazing, but it is a very hard table to get. Be prepared to pay big bucks for the meal. It is worth it, though. Drai's in the Barbary Coast is also a winner.

For super casual and fun, I highly recommend the new Margaritaville in Vegas. It has the best atmosphere of any Margaritaville I've visited. Local's tip: Bypass the two-hour wait at the hostess stand by going straight to the third-floor patio. They have a different hostess stand there with a different waiting list. It usually only takes a few minutes to get a table and you have a good outdoor view of the Strip...try it for lunch.

I also love the VooDoo Cafe/Lounge at the top of the Rio. It is pricey but not as high as most of the fine dining in Vegas. It has a cajun feel with an outstanding view, great cocktails and a really neat vibe. Tip: If you don't want to eat dinner there you can go to the lounge for drinks and the view. The cover is high on weekends but usually there is no cover during the week.

Enjoy.

No question - Restaurant Andre.

The off-strip location, imho, is slightly better than the one in Monte Carlo.

Highly recommend Commander's Palace in the Desert Passage at the Aladdin. Superb, personal service, plus delectable food (the original CP is in New Orleans) and reasonable prices. We had a much superior meal there at half the cost of our dinner at LeCirque. If this is a special celebration, I think you would appreciate the gracious staff at the CP.

Picasso, but you need to make reservations more than a month in advance. Numerous awards, as noted on Bellagio's website.

One of my favorites is not even on the strip. Rosemary's is is a nondescript strip mall and doesn't look like anything special on the outside but once you walk in it is a different story. Not only is the dining area very nice, but the food is out of this world and the service is great to match. It is a little ways off the strip but I think it is worth it. For lunch they have $20.05 three course prix-fixe menu which is a steal. There food is a fresh twist of New American & New Orleans with a hint of European bistro flair. I could go on & on...but here is there website

Rosemary's, that's one good Vegas restaurant. Don't need to be in the strip to be a restaurant worth going to.

Hugo's Cellar at the Four Queens downtown Vegas. King crab legs, steaks, excellant salads w/dinner. You wouldn't think this type of restaurant would be downtown.

Delmonico's at the Venetian is in my opinion (and my husband's) the perfect meal. Food, atmosphere, service, wine....all incredible. One of our favorite places anywhere--not just Vegas. It's an Emiril Legasse restaurant.

I agree with others that have posted about Commander's Palace and Rosemary's. Commander's in the Desert Passage Shops is as good as the original restaurant in New Orleans. One can always depend on the Brennan family--at least the branch that operates CP and affiliated establishments in New Orleans, NOT the branch that operates Brennan's--to provide a primo dining experience. Rosemary's menu is very creative, and the food is impeccably presented.

My wife and I loved Nobhill in the MGM Grand. The ambience, service and food when we dined there in December 2004 were superb.
