Best Place to stay in Palm Springs?

Aside from LaQuinta, all the resorts in Palm Springs area look the same to me. We've stayed at a number of them and which is which I can't remember, but I do remember La Quinta, which is one of the oldest and prettiest. The dining is not exceptional in Palm Springs, but there are a couple good choices--ask hotel for recommendations as I've forgotten all the names. The little Mexican cafe at La Quinta is very nice. Ate at Bono's--wonder if it's still there now that Sonny isn't. Everything will not be closed in August, but it sure will be hot. The good news is that this is "off season" so prices will be less. To escape the heat one day, consider the Palm Springs Tramway up to Idyllwild on the mountain. Gives some relief from the heat. Also, remember that since you are in a desert, as soon as the sun goes down things become quite nice and cool. So, plan to have downtime in the afternoon and rest up for the evening activities.

Some of the hotels/resorts that we would stay at would be the Marriott Desert Springs resort and Spa. Another place that you may want to consider in the Renaissance which is also located out that way. I hope this is of some help, if you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

The Marriott in Palm Desert is in a class by itself. La Quinta is very nice and charming but is not in the same league as the Marriott.
Billy Deans is a good midscale restaurant. Many celebrities eat there if that means anything. It is located just north of downtown Palm Springs.
The aerial tram is located west of Palm Springs just a few miles from downtown. The last time I went on it, the price was around $14.00 r/t and well worth it.
There are 4 casinos located around the Palm Springs area if you like to play slot machines etc.
