Dear Elena:
I'd stay at the Crystal Pier Motel in Pacific Beach. The "motel" in the name is a bit misleading: the place consists of comfortable cottages built on a pier above the beach.
You have easy access to a spectacular beach, restaurants are within walking distance, Mission Bay and other attractions are only a short drive away.
4500 Ocean Blvd.
San Diego,619.483.6983
For a pricier alternative, you could try the classic Hotel Del Coronado. It's on an island/peninsula west of San Diego and has a truly grand beach.
1500 Orange Avenue
Coronado, CA
619.435.6611
There are lots of other possibilities. San Diego is such a great city!
