Best Overnight Stops Along Blue Ridge Parkway

We are going to take a week in October and drive the Blue Ridge Parkway/Skyline Drive. Any suggestions on places that would be good for an overnight stay?

The Peaks of Otter Lodge - a unique location.

The Inn at Little Washington - very special.

Is the Peaks of Otter Lodge out of the way for just an overnight stop?
Just wondering because I need an overnight stop also, along BRP between Asheville, NC & Charlottesville, VA.
Thanks

The Peaks of Otter and Blowing Rock look pretty good. Any comments on Mount Airy?

Mount Airy is fun, especially if you liked the Andy Griffith show. Mt. Airy IS Mayberry.

If you are lucky, cmcfong may give you a personal tour
