Best Northern Florida Beach Resort
Hi
I am searching for the best beach resort in Northen Florida for a weekend getaway. We will be going in February, so ideally someplace where the beach and pool will be warm enough to enjoy. Also near an airport will be helpful.
Thanks!

I don't think February is real good beach weather in northern Florida. Shorts and a sweatshirt are more the norm then. My favorite place to stay is Seaside, a "town by the sea," with individually owned houses that can be rented through the Seaside Realty Company.

I agree with Marilyn that it gets pretty chilly in North Florida. But if you insist on going up there then, consider St. George Island. Beautiful white sand beaches, not overdeveloped, very romantic. You have to drive about 1 1/2 hours from Tallahassee. Out of the way but if you're looking for a great getaway/hideaway, it's worth it.

I'm on a roll today helping people with Florida questions: Sarasota beaches are beautiful. It's a nice community with a lot to do there too. If you like shopping there's an outlet mall in Sarasota but an even better one in a nearby town called Ellenton.
I live in South Florida now but used to live in St. Petersburg. I would periodically take weekend trips to Sarasota because of the beautiful beaches, activities, good restaurants and that fabulous outlet mall in Ellenton. My number one choice would be Sarasota but some others include: St. Pete/Clearwater, Ft. Myers, Naples, Amelia Island. If you want to avoid the hub-bub of Miami Beach but would like to experience South Florida, consider Fort Lauderdale or somewhere in Palm Beach County like Boca, Delray Beach or West Palm. Hope this helps.
