Great mental snapshots, thanks.

We're heading to Oregon at the end of next week and will try to remember (again) not to attempt pumping our own gas.

I grew up in California Bay Area, and all it takes is a whiff of some of those dry weeds to make me homesick.

Your seafood rule comment also made me laugh. I keep ordering it in places where locals may not even know what that is. "Keep it local," I keep reminding myself - until I find that is not always a great solution either. Glad you made it ok.

I'll bet we had more fun then you did!

Please let us know when you return so we can be better prepared.

Nothing like fried New England clams washed down with a Sam Adams!

bear, check out the thread 4 up from yours.

NoriRoll glad you had a great trip and yes if you are from RI, get your seafood there. I know everything goes by air now, but that takes time and it usually has been frozen in the middle of the country.

So would you go cross country by car again and where would you most want to visit next?

emalloy, check out ALL the thread above your post.

Minus Klammoth Falls it's mostly about CA, responded by mostly Californians who are aware the OP is home, somewhere away from CA.

The "return" reference in context was about......hint: not RI.

Here's your Lojack - Boink!
