Best Kauai excursions/tours?
Hi! We're headed to Kauai in August with two children (six and eight years), staying on the North Shore, and would love to include some day excursions—(E.g. sailing, snorkeling, biking, etc.) Have you been on any tours on the island? Do you have paid activities to recommend we look into? The name I've heard so far is Capt Andy's. Any thoughts on them (& price)—the snorkel picnic looks to be about $600 for 4 ppl. Thanks in advance!

I do recommend a boat trip to the Na Pali coast - beautiful views and you are likely to see wildlife - seals, dolphins, whales, turtles. We went with Captain Andy, but I think they are all fine.
The children might enjoy the train ride at the Kilohana Plantation right outside Lihue. The parents might enjoy the rum tasting there.

Another vote for a Na Pali coast tour, have done about 7 over the years with Captain Andy and Holo Holo among others. Morning tours are calmer.
You might want to look into a visit to the Kauai Humane Society, you can "adopt" a dog for the day to take on a walk.

These are great suggestions! And it sounds like the sail is a must. Thank you!
I'll look into the train and the humane society.
I'd also recalled seeing some on-land tours, like ATV, horseback, hiking, biking etc. If anyone has feedback on one they'd do with kids, would love to hear!
Thanks again! Ashley

Friends of mine loved this and it's on my list. It's in Lihue -- about a 50-minute drive from the North Shore. The website says it's for ages 5 and up. https://kauaibackcountry.com/tubing/
