Best Downtown Hotels

I will be traveling to N.O. soon. I have had my share of bad hotels and this conference/vacation I would like good accomodations. Someone suggested LePavillon Hotel and Holiday Inn Downtown Superdome. Could anyone give me any feedback on these hotels and which hotels are must-stays downtown. Thank you.

Le Pavillon is nice and is a few blocks outside of the French Quarter. HI Downtown/Superdome (a few blocks from the Dome despite the name) is a Holiday Inn, no better or worse.

I'd suggest staying in the French Quarter over either of these downtown hotels.

Denise, you may get more responses if you rephrase your header with "Best Downtown Hotels in New Orleans" or something like that. FYI.

John:

I asked for it to be put in a New Orleans site but thanks for your suggestions. I will consider doing that.

The better hotels in the CBD are the International House, the Intercontinental, the Wyndam, and, if you're on business (i.e. $$$), the Windsor Court.
