Best Beginner Ski Resorts Northeast

I have been to Okemo for first time skiing last year. I am wondering what resorts are best in the northeast for beginners. I know Windham and Hunter. A big yuk to hunter. Would like a resort that is a comfortable distance from NYC not more than 7-8 hours away. If you know affordable hotels not far out of the way (I take a ski excursion bus from NYC that drops off along main routes) that would be helpful. Thanks

Mt. Snow, in southern VT, looong well groomed, wide, gentle trails. It's about a 4 hour drive from NYC. Sorry, can't help with hotels...we lived close enough for day trips.

Sunday River in Bethel, Maine! Lots of LONG green runs - even from the top! Excellent snow-making. Lots of variety.
