Best areas to live in Tucson, AZ

My husband will be working for Raytheon and will be moving our family of 5 from MI! I am concerned about good schools, activities, and culture. Any opinions? We will be moving in one month!

Foothills of the catalinas Swan and Sunrise area !!! We lived there from MI ourselves. Beautiful views...may be a drive for your husband to work. Or the area off Houghton road will be a direct area for your husband to drive to Raytheon..Northeast corner.
Do you need an agent for a home? I have an agent that is awesome. Good Luck Tucson is awesome !!! You will be so happy !!!!

I've made similar moves a couple of times and the best source of info was always my fellow workers at the new site. They are likely to be earning similar salaries, have similar family concerns (schools) and know which areas have a reasonable drive-time to work.

Stick to the North, Northeast or East sections of Tucson. Keep in mind, the newer the house, the smaller the backyard. Lots of culture here due to University of Arizona; also artists flock here. Check out "Tucson Weekly" newspaper for arts and culture happenings. I was born in Michigan, so want to say "Welcome and good luck!"

Thanks to all who have responded. My husband tells me that Vail is where he wants us to look at. I know it's closer to Raytheon, and prices are cheaper. Does anyone know anything about schools in Vail? I have been reading that there is tension between caucasians and mexicans in schools; particularly towards the southern region of Tucson; is this true?
