Bermuda or Key West?
I am going to plan a trip in the spring to either key west or bermuda. I have never been to either, but everyone tells me they are great destinations. If anyone has been there, please tell me the pros & cons of both, so I can make my decision. I would love to know about hotels, restaurants, places of interest. thanks for the help

NO CONTEST!! Bermuda wins! Everyone says Bermuda is too expensive, but I disagree, it doesn't have to be. We've stayed at the Rosedon, a small hotel directly across from the Hamilton Princess. You have plenty of privacy, but easy access to the noise and glitter of a big hotel right across the street. Plus, you're just a short walk from town and a variety of restaurants. I highly recommend 'M.R. ONIONS', it's casual and very reasonable - great fresh fish dishes! But, at the other end "ONCE UPON A TABLE' is fantastic. Rent a mope and see the whole island, and definitely snorkel! Also, you have to go to the Swizzle Inn, burgers are good and so's the chowder! Don't forget to leave your mark on the wall.
In Key West, there are no beaches. It's a real party atmosphere ALL the time, which is fun, but... Many locals look like they've been there a little toooo long. If you go though, make sure you go to the sunset party, held every night at Mallory Square at the end of Duval Street. Try the Hogsbreath Saloon, and of course, you've gotta have a "cheeseburger in Paradise". Have fun, whichever you choose.

Concur! Would return to Bermuda in a minute. There are all catagories of lodging from the very swank to the more conservative. Bermuda can be still be a bit on the cool side (not cold) in early spring cause after all it is really not far off the coast of North Carolina. Was there in Sept and was fantastic. Right on about the moped. Have a blast.

I have been to Bermuda twice and to Key West at least 6 times. I like both destinations very much. However, they are very different. Bermuda is more of a destination that is best from May to October. It has a tenedency of being expensive but one can find reasonable accomodations if you stay away from the bigger hotels. Bed and Breakfasts are always a good choice. The beauty of the island is beyond description. The British influence of the island brings it a class that is in a category of it's own. The lack of many automobiles keeps down the noice and pollution. I have found that the food can sometimes be disappointing, but the beaches are some of the best I have ever seen. The water is beautiful and the island atmosphere is rather quite. Bermuda is a great place to go as a couple and relax.
Key West on the other hand is different. There are a few beaches, but the Island is better known for it's party atmosphere and diversion of lifestyles. It is one of the few places where straight, gay, lesbian and others mix and have a wonderful time. The weather is better than Bermuda in the early spring. I usually go in April. April could be cool in Bermuda. I went to Bermuda once in April and it was cool some days. 15 years ago, April was the time when many college spring breakers would go. That is how I went the first time. Key west is more of an adult destination. The restaurants are fabulous and the bars are fun. The people of Key West are very interesting also. Be sure to bring your open mind and enjoy the place. There are also many historical things to see in Key West such as the Truman Annex and the Hemingway House. In early spring, I would go to Key West. In late spring I would consider Bermuda. I think that Key West is more affordable than Bermuda. Try one this time and the other next time. Both are great destinations.
I find Key West is a great place for about 4 days. Bermuda is a place I could easily stay for 10 days when the weather is warm. You need to decide if you want quite and British charm or great partying and diverse charm. Both are winners.

I agree with all the postings. Bermuda would win hands down, except that the beginning of spring (probably till Mid-May)tends to be cool. If you can plan your trip for later in May, no contest, Bermuda all the way. However, if you must travel earlier than that, the Key West would be a better choice.
Enjoy wherever you decide to go!!!
