Bedford Hotel in NYC

My husband and I are taking my mother to NYC (her first time) and need a suite. We found one at the Bedford Hotel on 40th b/w Lexington and Park for $250/night in June. Is this a good hotel and location?

The location is fine, the hotel gets very mixed reviews. Better options include the Murray Hill East suites, the Shelburne Murray Hill (part of the all suite affinia.com group)...even the Eastgate Towers, another Affinia hotel I think is better. Look at reviews on tripadvisor.com

Just keep in mind unless you get a 2 bedroom suite, if you want privacy, either you or your Mother will have to sleep on a sofabed.

Thank you. I will definitely look into the other suggestions.

AlyColon,

mclaurie is right - the Bedford does get mixed reviews. I can tell you, however, that we stayed there in October 2006 & liked it very much.

I'm afraid that my trip report is a work in progress just now (which is another way of saying that I've let it slip) but I have posted my thoughts on the Bedford - here's a link;

Jim - I recently read your posts. As someone who hails from the MacGregor clan, I have to tell you that you are HYSTERICAL and should be paid for what you've written.
