Beach Vacation Ideas

My husband and I are looking for US beach vacation suggestions for early June. We like to stay in a condo right on the beach in areas close to good restaurants. Sanibel Island, Florida is one of our favorite spots, but it's just too hot in June. Suggestions please.

How about a freshwater beach? Door County Wisconsin has beautiful white sand beaches and cool (cold!!) water.

Amelia Island, FL? Panhandle? It is quite a bit cooler in North Florida. I have been to Amelia Island and it is GORGEOUS. Have not made it to the panhandle yet, but have heard its beautiful.

St. Joseph, Michigan has beautiful sandy beaches on Lake Michigan. It has a wonderful light house on a long pier which is perfect for long moonlight strolls. St. Joseph is a nice little touristy type town with lots of good restaurants. It's my hometown! Patti

I wouldn't think that Sanibel would be too hot in early June. Captiva Island, right next to it, is very pretty. If you go too much further north for a beach, you might find the water a little chilly for swimming in early June. My family loves Sea Island/St. Simon's GA. Beautiful oak trees and some history to go with your beach. Kiawah Island, SC, has lots of condos right on the beach. If you want a white sand beach on the Gulf, you might want to consider Seaside.
