Beach Resort on Florida's West Coast

Looking for an adult oriented hotel/resort on the west coast of Florida. Any suggestions?

You'll find most of the upscale resorts on the west coast cater to adults, esp. in the winter.

Here are a few suggestions:

Sarasota area-Longboat Key Club (full service, golf and tennis); The Colony (tennis). Both close to great restaurants and shopping. The Ritz is opening a hotel near downtown Sarasota in about 8 weeks.

Venice-Plantation Golf and Country club (golf and tennis). Mostly private rentals, but the property may handle a few.

Ft. Myers/Captiva-South Seas Plantation, full service; Palm Island Resort

Naples-Ritz Carlton(2 to choose from) and the Registry.

I'm sure all these places have websites if you want more information.

I live in Naples. The Ritz, on the beach is beautiful, also just recently opened a new spa. The Registry, also on the beach, is nice but much older and not quite up to the standards of The Ritz, but it does offer resort amenities.
I love South Seas Plantation in Captiva. For a resort experience that would be my choice. They offer the beach, golf, tennis, water sports, great food, some shopping and spa facilities all in one beautiful location with a variety of accomodations.
Let me know if I can answer any questions about Naples.

Thought of another place that we stayed a few years ago. Yuseppa Island. It was so private. You get to it by boat. Croquett, lawn chess, the beach, upscale dining. I'm sure they have a website. We called it our soul searching weekend.
Boca Grande is also a beautiful place. Pricey and not sure what is avail. accomodation wise, I've never been. Just heard about it.

Geez, I should have given this some thought and then just posted once! Sorry about that but these things keep popping into my head. In Naples, The La Playa will be reopening in early Jan, 2002 and it is going to be wonderful. Golf, a spa, on the beach, 2 pools, I believe.
I think that is it for me!
Good luck.
