Beach Cottages

Hi,
My husband and I live near San Francisco.
For our first anniversary, we wanted to spend a couple of nights close to a beach preferrably in a beach cottage or shack. We wanted a romantic and cute place to walk and hike and relax.
Could anyone suggest some places like this near the Bay Area? We dont want to drive far, not more than a 2 hr drive one way.
Thx,
Anna

I don't have any specific hotel names, but Santa Cruz might be a nice choice. I'd prefer Big Sur myself, but that may be too long of a drive for you.

Try Andril Cottages in Pacific Grove. Within walking distance of Asilomar Beach. The cottages aren't fancy or upscale, but clean and quaint. Great place for hiking/walking or bike riding. And a 10 minute drive to either Monterey or Carmel, if either or those places are of interest.

Try Sea Mist Cottage in Marshall. It's a little cottage right on the water with a deck where you can watch the sun rise.

Check out the website www.stinsonbeachfront.com. I have not stayed there yet, but it looks like a great place to spend an anniversary or a romantic weekend.
Last time I checked the rate was $250 a night, but you are right on the ocean and no other cottages around you.
